I've been writing novels for young adults since 2009 when my family lost my brother in a tragic accident. For me, writing was a form of release and escape during a difficult time. What I didn't expect was that I'd find myself in it. Writing has become an undeniable passion for me. Even knowing so, in 2013 I decided to take a step back from writing and my pursuit of publication to focus on another long-time goal: finishing my degree.
Now, in the past three years I've done a lot more than finish that degree. I married an incredible man, gained a beautiful step-daughter, watched my son turn into the reader and aspiring writer I've always dreamed he'd be, and even added a puppy to our family. Amidst all that chaos, I still longed to be back writing, and found myself outlining and jotting down bits of dialogue in any spare moment I could find. So as soon as I finished my last course and signed on the dotted line for my shiny new degree, I jumped back in head first.
I'm overjoyed to be back at it, and I can't wait to reconnect with the friends I've missed and to meet some of the new faces that have joined the scene in my absence.
