Open Forum

Today I thought we'd have a little fun.  My brain is groggy thanks to allergies and cooler weather, so let's do a Q&A session!  You ask, I'll answer.  Whatever you want to know -- it can be about writing, about my processes, general stuff, whatever suits your fancy.

I'll answer in the comments, or if it's a long answer question, I'll make a blog post out of it.

So, let's hear it, what questions are running through your mind this morning?

Disclaimer:  If you ask me things like, "What's Super Spawn's real name," I won't answer.  :)  Not that I don't want to but, you know, privacy issues and all.

Ten Things About Me

I've been tagged by the lovely Miss Cole to share with you all ten things about myself!  Aren't you excited?  I know you are.  She also gave me an award, which I am going to share with the people I tag.  So, thank you very much and enjoy!

I really like this award, it matches my blog! ;)  Thanks, Miss Cole!

On with the show...

10 Things You Didn't Already Know About Me:  (How's that for a title?  Ha.)

  1. I can't stand peanut butter.
  2. My favorite thing to do when I get stressed out is to get my hair cut.  Short.
  3. I frame Super Spawn's "art" and hang it in my office.
  4. I found a book from when I was seven years old the other day -- Boxcar Children.  I had written all sorts of notes in the blank pages in the back.
  5. When I was in elementary school, my best friend and I would have sleepovers so we could read together.
  6. I'm scared of tall bridges.
  7. I have a texture issue -- and Super Spawn loves to use it against me to make me gag.  He thinks it's funny.
  8. I really like lists, and although you may already know that, I just feel the need to share the fact that I'm loving this list.  Super fun listmakeage.
  9. My new WIP is now a good bit over the 10k words mark.
  10. I only need glasses for reading.

There you have it!

Now, I think I'll tag...

Meredith, Lindy, Ghenet, and Kirsten!

Have a great weekend, guys!

This Is My Town

**Not sure what today's Road Trip is, so I'm posting something I've had saved for a while to tell you a little more about me.  Hope you enjoy.**

On the outside, my town doesn't look like anything special.  But on the inside, it's something spectacular.

In my town, the police stop traffic for funeral processions.  They step out of their patrol cars and hold their wide-brimmed hats to their chests.  The Captain of the police squad himself will lead the procession, and heaven forbid someone should decide not to pull over.  The Captain's car will swerve across both lanes, ensuring their quick departure into the grass.

My town is all about respect.

You won't find big buildings in my town.  No, it's full of dusty roads and pickup trucks lifted to the sky.  You walk into a store and people shout your name.  On Friday nights, the whole town can be found at the high school's football stadium.  There aren't a lot of things to do in my town, unless you like to be outside.  We've got beaches, rivers, natural springs, and more wildlife than I can name.

Wakulla Springs - wakulla springs state park
This really is my town.  A favorite place to visit in the summer.

My town is all about community.

In a crisis, the neighbors are always right there to help.  Teenagers host candlelight vigils in memory of lost friends.  Everybody may know your business, but it can lead to unexpected happiness.  Like Christmas gifts brought by a stranger, left on doorsteps, without a word of thanks expected.

I grew up in this town, and I'm proud to call it mine.

And this post has no purpose other than I needed to write it.  So, there ya go.

Who I Am

*Disclaimer: I am doped up on cough meds and Tylenol, so cut me some slack if this makes no sense today, lovelies  You're the best!*

Keeping with the answering my call for feedback.  Several people asked to know more about me...

Have you ever heard that country song that goes something like this:

I am Rosemary's granddaughter, the spitting image of my father, and when the day is done, my mama's still my biggest fan.  Sometimes I'm clueless and I'm clumsy, but I've got friends that love me, and they know just who I am.

Well,

I am Super Spawn's mother, a writer and lover, and when the day is done, my sister is my biggest fan.  It's often that I'm clueless and I'm clumsy; I'll fall flat down on my face, and get back up to try it all again.  Determination runs deep, and some may say I'm stubborn, but that's okay 'cause I know just who I am.

I'm a dreamer, not a quitter.  I'm a giver, not taker.  I refuse to be a loser.  And when the day is done, I can face myself and smile.

And that tells you, well, practically nothing.  And it doesn't fit the song's tempo, but oh well.  :)  I hope you enjoyed this installment of Holly On Meds.  Come back tomorrow for another dose.  lol
