All I Want for Christmas

Is YOU!

Hehe.  I've had that song stuck in my head for days.  DAYS.

In preparing for the coming holidays, I'm thinking a lot about lists and goals.  What to get Super Spawn for Christmas (Way too much, that's what!), who to buy for, what to buy, card lists.  The sheer magnitude of list makeage in my life has come to an all time high. (And that's saying something because I LOVE making lists. I make them for everything.)

Naturally, this has bled over into my writing life.  I do this a lot, you guys should have expected it.  ;)

I'm thinking of goals to reach over the holidays, goals for the spring, and overall goals for the year.  The problem with these lists is that a lot of things are out of my control.  Most of them are within my personal sphere of control (which is where I like them), but some...well, they're not.  (Both writing and non-writing.)

That freaks me out.  *shudders*  Back to happy thoughts.

Christmas!  Trees!  Lights!  SANTA!!

Okay, better now.  Back to the real topic.  Goals, aka my wish list.

My Christmas Writing Wish List:

  1. I want to make the time to get through all my round-one revisions of the WIP by the end of December.  The ones that have to be done before I can send them to Susan because they SUCK.  lol
  2. I want to start outlining book two for the WIP's sequel.
  3. It'd be super great if Santa would bring me a Shiny New Idea.
  4. Get a good, basic query letter shaped for WIP to give it time to percolate.
  5. Find a comparable novel for WIP.  This is proving much harder than I expected.

That's it!  My goals -- er, wishes -- for December.

What are your goals this month?  Are you working on your New Year's Goals (or Resolutions, whichever they may be) yet?

I told my husband all I wanted for christmas was TIME. He wanted to get me a camera. I said TIME to write. He said I don't know how to put that in a box. I said, GET ME TIME IN A HOTEL ROOM AWAY FROM YOU AND THE KID SO I CAN WRITE.
He said, well the hotel can't have free wifi that's for sure.

Then he said, "what about fuzzy boots. I see women wearing those, it will keep your feet warm."

"I already have fuzzy boots, I got them last year."

Sigh.

During my 2 week vacation, I plan on revising my NaNo novel. I also want to read lots and lots in December since that's been placed on the back burner last month. I plan on reading Mockingjay, Room, City of Bones, and The Fallout. Wishful thinking, huh? :)

Erinn - lol Men can be so hard headed sometimes. Maybe when he tells you what he wants you should keep suggesting other things (that you know he won't want) until he gets the point. ;) I'm mean like that.

Pam - That's quite a list! You'll have to let me know how Room is...I'm a little scared to read it. I'm very sensitive about bad things happening to little kids.

I love that song! One of my top 3 favorite Christmas songs ever!

You have a great list going. Good luck with it all. :) In December I'm mostly just beta-ing and relazxing.

I made up a new word, apparently. Let's all relazx this December, lol. ;)

Abby relazxing sounds MUCH more fun than relaxing. lol

I too want time away from real life. How awesome would it be if we could all arrange time at the same time and do a fake writer's retreat?

Holly Hill said...

Alicia, I'm so there! But with a bunch of writers getting together to write...well, I don't think it'd be a *fake* writer's retreat. lol Sounds like the real deal to me!

Holly, I say 'fake' because it would be just us.

Do you think we could all arrange it?

Holly Hill said...

I bet we could with enough pre-planning.

It'd be a whole event! A blogger buddy meet-up/writing/book talk extravaganza! We could make it into a whole blog event with new pictures and stories every day across the blogs of people who attended!!! How freaking fun!

Oh gracious. Now you've got me going. lol
