Links Galore

So today I'm going to join in on the fun of the 7x7 award that is circling which is supposed to highlight some of my past blog posts. I hope you'll enjoy the links I've included! :)

Most Beautiful: I think I have to choose Behind the Mask

Most Helpful: I'd say my Using Analytics - An Overview was a pretty helpful post.  Lots of diagrams and general awesomesauce.

Most Popular: Well, the post with the most pageviews (according to my Google Stats) is Frazzled Mom Brain.  That kinda makes me giggle.  The next most popular, aside from contest posts, is from the Query Letter Blogfest that Alicia, Erinn, Pam, Quita, and I hosted together.  You can read the query I used for Happily Never After there.  :)

Most Controversial: Have I ever written a controversial post?  Maybe Adverbs count.

Most Successful: Define successful.  lol  This is HARD!  Maybe my Outlining Your Novel Part 1 and Part 2 series of posts.

Most Underrated: Blerg, I don't know.  I really like this post, Sometimes it Doesn't, which was very sincere and has an important message.

Most Prideworthy:  I'm really proud of my post, This is for YOU.  It stands true to this day, and I hope you all know that writing this blog is about so much more than splattering my randomness on the internet.

Whew!  That was tough, but that's a pretty cool compilation of blog posts (many of which I had forgotten about).  Thank you, Miss Cole for sharing the meme with me!

Now I expect you all to go complete this meme as well, because I want to know what kind of awesome posts I've missed on your blogs!  ;)

Tipsy Tuesday- Computer Woes

Well, seeing as I experienced the writer's worst nightmare this weekend, I thought I'd share some resources to help make it not so nightmareish.

There are a couple places I've found that will store up to 2GB of files for FREE:

Dropbox

Mozy

They also both offer upgrades for larger storage space at pretty low rates. I use Dropbox...I didn't know about Mozy until I started compiling this list, but it looks just as good.

Carbonite was recommended by a commenter on Saturday. It offers unlimited backup capacity for $50 a year. That's probably a better deal than both Dropbox and Mozy if you have a lot of files to save.

Geek Squad also offers online backup- 25G for $50 a year. Again, Carbonite is the better option if you have more than 25G.

So, even if you only back up your novel files and the most important pictures -- please, please, please do. You just never know when Mr. Murphy will visit you for a day!

Are there any other good places out there to back things up that I missed? Grated, this isn't an all-inclusive list.

Frazzled Mom Brain

I had this whole post planned for today about managing writing as a parent. Complete with pictures of my Super Spawn in his Superman shirt. Then I forgot my SD card. Darn you frazzled mom brain!! I shake my fist at you!
Okay, now that's out of my system.

So, for today, I'm going to give you my list of resources. Blogs, websites, and general tips that I've learned along the way. A few of my favorites...

Blogs by Agents:

Dystel & Goderich Literary Agency

Getting Past the Gatekeeper

Nathan Bransford

Neverending Page Turner

Janet Reid

Writers/Authors with excellent info:

YA Highway

Kate Hart

Kaitlin Ward

Write or Die

Wonderings, Wanderings, and Writing

Tips from me (because I'm cool like that):

1. Join Twitter- Yeah, yeah, cry all you want. I didn't wanna do it either but it is seriously useful. Follow agents, publishers, writers, bloggers, editors...you will get loads and loads of helpful info!

2. Join a group- I write young adult, so I joined YALitchat (see link on the right). There are all kinds of groups for getting your pages critiqued to finding crit partners (Hi Susan!) to getting your query in shape. So run, don't walk, and join.

3. Get a website- Everything I've heard and read says start building your online presence NOW. Don't wait for a book release date, by then it's a little late to be building an audience. You want to meet people you can pass ARCs to for reviews and people anxiously awaiting that fresh new hardback (sigh...I love hardback books). These people will be the ones that go tell their friends to read, which is how books sell.

Well my lovelies, that's all for today. I will be back on Monday, hopefully with the pictures, and lots more words for my WIP. Be safe and enjoy the sun!
