Road Trip Wednesday

Road Trip Wednesday is a "Blog Carnival," where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on our own blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

This week's topic:

If you could travel back in time to any historical era for research purposes, which would you choose?

None of my WIPs are based in a historical era as of yet. So...I'm gonna go with my own interests for non-writing related purposes.

I'd really like to visit Victorian England. I mean...who wouldn't? lol I don't wanna stay...just see it first hand.

I'd also really like to visit Ireland during the Pagan era. I studied philosophy and religion in college and Pagans always fascinated me. I would really love to be able to see what things were really like and to talk to the people of the period. That would be SO amazing.

Aaand...I'd like to go to the 1600's and meet the portion of my family who climbed on a boat leaving from England to settle in Maryland. How flipping cool would that be? I know their names, but to be able to actually see them would be amazing. I wonder if you'd be able to see the relation. :)

What about you? Where would you go?

I agree with all those places. Except, I'd like to see my own family who left France to come to the southern US (yeah -- what were they thinking!?).

How's Super Spawn? I hope he's doing a little better...

Super Spawn is doing a little better. His fever was down this morning. YAY!

So glad to hear Super Spawn is doing better!

I sometimes think about hooking back to when my fam sailed from France to Quebec just because I'm curious about the boat ride.

Meeting ancestors would be awesome! It would give me insight on why my family is so crazy now. :)

That would be so cool to meet your ancestors! I would love that especially since I'm not so clear on who they are. I agree about Pagans- I would love to be around while they come up with some of the traditions we still carry on today.

Ditto on all of that, especially the pagan era. That would have been fascinating.

Ooh, visiting the international transplants would be amazing! I can't imagine how brave (or desperate) those people were to do something so incredible. Awesome choice!!

Victorian England... kninky.

I would love to see Victorian England, too! Actually, I'd quite like to meet Victoria herself. I figure if I can travel back in time, meeting a royal isn't a stretch, right?

Ireland during the Pagan era? That sounds way awesome.

I didn't even think about the ancestors, even though I do genealogy and am stuck right around when certain family members emigrated to the U.S. What a great idea! Seeing the Pagan era would be awesome, too. See how they moved those massive stones.

Ooh, I didn't think about Ireland- you could find out the real story behind Stonehenge!

I never even considered visiting ancestors! Great idea! Although I don't really want to know where I got my red hair from. That can stay a family secret.

Ah, I can't even imagine meeting my ancestors, and from so far back! That would be incredible.
