Whew

What a week, lovelies!  I have been ridiculously busy at my day job this week, which has made for less than par blog posts I fear.

*sigh*

Sorry.

My brain is in overdrive and by the end of the day I'm in full-on melt-down-mode.  Not only have I been pulling my hair out at the office, but this week Super Spawn has given up his last bit of babyhood.

Yes, my Super Spawn is officially a big boy.

He gave up his binky.

Now, I know this may not seem like a big deal, but it's huge to us.  I've been trying to get rid of that binky for a solid year.  It has been torture.  I've tried everything to get him to let go of that thing.  Bribing him, poking a hole in the end, going cold turkey, candy...I've tried it all.

Then Monday night we couldn't find one.  I just knew that meant I was in for a long night of tears.  I went for it anyway, I told Super Spawn, "Well, your binky is lost.  But that's okay because you are such a big boy that you don't need it anymore, and that makes Mommy so proud."

And he hasn't asked for it again.

I'm elated!  But at the same time, I'm so sad.  My tiny little barely six pound baby is a 38 pound big boy who can spell his name, do simple addition, and read simple words!

Where does the time go?

Congratulations on getting him off the binky. That's a big deal.

Awwwww. Awwwww. He IS a big boy now, huh? Kinda bittersweet...

But yay that you managed to "trick" him away from his lost binky!

Please tell me you've seen the show Toddlers & Tiaras...and you know what I mean when I say "ni-ni". If not, watch this (at ~40 seconds):

Susan, my mom is *obsessed* with that show. lol She used to put me in those pageants. Though she was NOT crazy like the people on the show, but she says I competed against a lot of them.

That show cracks me up and makes me cringe at the same time.

That's so sweet! I totally get what you mean about him being a big boy. Like, right now, I don't want to ever grow up. Do all mothers think about their children like that? Isn't it the saddest thing ever? How do you survive that?

Yahong, all the mothers I know think about their children that way. It's sad and happy and terrifying and thrilling all wrapped up into a huge bundle of love. That's what parenting is all about.

These are the things I fear with parenting...it would break my heart to take away such a prized possession. Good job for being such an awesome mom!

Big step! Before you know it, your baby's going to be crossing a stage and getting his HS diploma. It's sad that time goes by so fast, but just know you rock as a mama! :)

Quita, that's why he has had the thing so long! I cannot just sit there and let him cry when I know I can make him feel better. lol Can't do it.

Pam, I'll be a blubbering idiot when he graduates 4K, much less HS! lol I get all anxious just thinking about kindergarten! ;)

I have a boy in 4K right now, too. He never took a binky, but he's firmly sucking on his thumb while holding his blue blankie at this exact moment...GAH!!

Awesome MOM Jedi Mind Trick. I LOVE it.
We don't have binky issues, but any advice on getting kids to eat real food?
