This week's topic comes from a prompt at SCBWI:
What does your character hide in their underwear drawer - or other secret location?
I keep trying to think of something Mandy would hide, and I just can't. The only thing Mandy really hides are her feelings...and what she really thinks about the happenings at Emerald. She'd never dare tell anyone that she doesn't want to fight the villain.
Now, Anna... She'd be hiding a picture of Adam under her pillow. I can't tell you why she'd need to hide it...you'll just have to wait to read the story. :)
Daniel keeps a picture of John, his estranged son, in his office. Don't know if that really counts as hiding, but nobody can get to it.

nice! I feel like we should do a hidden feelings post sometime, because I, too, found that some of my characters hid more feelings than they did items! :)
Very intriguing!
I'm seeing the hiding their feelings as a common trend in these posts and the characters have very little physically to hide.
I think an interesting way to deal with the "hidden feelings" problem is to then say-- okay, so how does that manifest? Does it give the character some physical or verbal tics I can exploit?
Aw, that last one is really sweet and sad. Love how this kind of question can reveal humanizing details about characters when we haven't even read the book.
I'm incrediblly intrigued, and I LOVE this trick! Fun stuff~ :o)
Hiding their feelings totally counts! And it's a great source of conflict for characters.
Awesome! Cool thing about this prompt is if your character isn't hiding something in their underwear drawer, chances are they're hiding something somewhere else...
"She'd never dare tell anyone that she doesn't want to fight the villain." I don't know who this girl is, but I like her already!
And ditto what Phoebe said about the last one--so sweet!
