This Week's Topic:
What's the best writing advice you've ever received?
This is easy. Drum roll please....
Just write.
Yep. Best. Advice. Ever.
Really though, you have a story in you and you know it wants to come out. You dream of being a writer/author, imagining holding your precious book in your hands, neatly bound with astonishing cover art. (Sigh.) The only way to make your dream come true is to just sit down and do it. Nobody's promising it'll be easy. In fact, I'll promise you it won't be. But do you want to know a secret? You'll have fun. Lots of fun, and countless enjoyable hours spent with the characters you love.
So, do it! Pick up the pen, open up your computer, whatever it takes, and just write. Worry about the rest later.

I like it. Simple is good. :-)
I have essentially the same advice taped to my monitor, with an addition from Natalie Goldberg (paraphrased here): "No one cares that much whether you write or not. You just have to do it."
I love this advice. So simple yet brilliant.
Just write, gonna be okay, doo doo dee doo, just write...
(:
Fantabulous advice, yep yep yep. Always remember: BIC. Butt in chair. Just sit down and write.
You are like Nike for writers. Just do it. LOVE.
You don't understand how I needed to hear that. I stress over how good my writing will be b/c I am in an MFA program- but I need to just sit down and write. Really good advice and when I am having a hard time, I'll think of you :)
Thanks for participating, Holly!
Yes! Sometimes the simplest advice is the best. So easy to forget that the most important part of writing is exactly that: writing.
